Today we shared books with each other in Japanese (and some English). Then we played Kurohige Kikiippatsu and Fernando, Kim, and I had to introduce a book to everyone in Japanese. Kim introduced "Chumon no Ooi Ryoriten," which is a third-level graded reader and is about a restaurant that orders these two hunters to do various things, like take of their shoes and brush their hair. The illustrations are quite amazing.
Fernando introduced a beginner graded reader entitled "Sakura," which provides information about the sakura seasons in Japan. Looks helpful to anyone planning to attend "hanami."
I introduced a level 3 book called "Tsuru no Ongaeshi." It's a very famous Japanese folktale about a man who saves an injured crane. Then the crane repays the favor in the most unusual way . . .
For the next meeting this Thursday, two Japanese students will attend, and hopefully they can recommend us some good books. If you guys have some good English books you can recommend them, I think they'd be very grateful (e.g., "Island of the Blue Dolphins", BFG, Harry Potter, etc.). See you guys Thursday!
